Confident. Fit. Focused. GRATEFUL.
That’s my mantra.
And I agree, it doesn’t roll off the tongue like “Om.”
But it’s mine. Part of me.
It also might actually belong to a bunch of karate students, too, because I’m pretty sure I lifted it from a storefront I once passed.
I find that reciting the mantra, which loosely translates to “a tool for the mind” in Sanskrit, instantly grounds me.
I’m not sure if the constant recital of the mantra has vibrated its way into my consciousness, but at the very least, it reminds me of what I want to be. Who I can be.
Then, of course, I need to remind myself that all of these things take work. And they are all connected. Sorta like a cookie recipe.
Confident.
Fit.
Focused.
GRATEFUL.
Consistency is key. I will recite the mantra during meditation, say it aloud in the car if I find myself unexpectedly frustrated, or even start my morning by mouthing the words in the mirror. You’ll find it scribbled in my margins time and time again.
What’s your mantra?
