Back in 2002 and 2003, I had a daily morning routine that included drinking one of those popular dissolvable packets of vitamin C with a few ounces of water. That was also a time when my anxiety heightened. I am not blaming vitamin C for panic attacks, merely suggesting that there is limited data out there that concretely suggests whether vitamin C reduces or increases anxiety.
Just as I watch my caffeine intake, I also watch how much vitamin C I consume…and the time of day I am ingesting. With experts suggesting that the upper intake limit is 2,000 mg a day, I do not take any supplements and rely on my diet to get the needed amount.
Vitamin C is important to immune and stress response, however, I see way too many people Googling the impact ‘C’ can have on anxiety. Makes me wonder.
